We are a small freehouse micropub in Petts Wood serving local and nationally produced real ales from small breweries, Kent Chapel Down wine, Kent Dudda Tun cider and an array of Fentimans soft drinks and local pear and apple juice. At the wide wooden bar counter you can see into our temperature controlled cellar room behind and watch your beers and ciders being served straight from the barrel. The real ale menu is listed on a blackboard behind the bar. We are involved in the CAMRA LocAle scheme which actively promotes locally-produced real ales and we offer a discount on all ales to subscribed CAMRA members.
Our ethos is to listen to our customers, serve locally crafted cask ales, promote conversation (there being a charity fine box for mobile phone use inside) and shunning all forms of electronic entertainment. It is our intention is to be a community spirited establishment focussing on produce from our wonderful county of Kent.
The name comes from the owners memories of his grandfather, who used to run a pub in Sittingbourne and used to ask regulars to put ‘one in the wood’ when they offered to buy him a drink.
