In the Victorian era, our building was originally a greengrocers owned by an Armenian immigrant who called himself George Charles. These days, we honour that heritage by using the freshest ingredients in our dishes, and cooking everything from scratch, right down to the homemade cakes we sell on the bar.
We believe in serving simple, tasty and unpretentious food. During the week, we serve brunch from 11am until 4pm, and at weekends until 1pm. Our lunch menu runs from 12-5 everyday and our evening menu starts at 5pm.
During the first lockdown, we gave our kitchens to Unagi, a pan-Asian street food and sushi restaurant. Their food was such a hit that they’re now part of the George Charles family and you can order their food from us everyday from 12pm.
