About Ye Olde Mitre Inne:
Ye Olde Mitre Inn is the oldest coaching inn to remain in Barnet and is one of the towns most historic buildings. Being situated on what was the main road used between London and the North, the Mitre was a resting place for travellers on horses and in stage coaches.
Records show the alcohol licence was issued for an establishment on the Mitre site in 1553. The building probably pre-dates this.
