The Old George Inn is Newcastle’s oldest pub, dating from 1582 and boasting royal links: King Charles I was a regular visitor, while in an open prison nearby; today, we still offer a royal service in this truly spectacular building.
Fantastic food is served seven days a week and we offer a range of great entertainment to suit a vast audience.
Live sport is shown every day whether it be football, rugby or horse racing with the full BT Sport package for those early Saturday games and both 'Racing UK' and 'At The Races' for any horse racing fans.
Thursday and Sunday evenings we have 'Open-Mic' nights starting at 7pm, hosted by Molly McKay and Jake Houlsby, respectively. These nights are guaranteed to showcase some great live music from some of the best talent from around Newcastle. Our day-to-day background music profile coincides with this great live music vibe to maintain a fantastic, welcoming atmosphere.
Friday and Saturday nights, put on your dancing shoes as we are up all night, playing your requests right through 'til 2am!
Along with all of this, our Function Room is available, free to hire! Whether it be for a party, meeting or even Stag and Hen do's.
So why not give us a call? Or better yet, pop down! Our friendly staff will be on hand to make you feel welcome, give you the best experience possible and make you see it really is the beacon of quality in the Bigg Market!
