Although the large stone building is imposing, the interior is comfortable and welcoming.
The pub retains many original features and appears in Yorkshire's Real Heritage Pubs book. Four rooms, all with high ceilings, are accessed from the terrazzo floored central corridor.
The end of the bar serves the corridor while the main part is in the main room, on the right. Here, fixed wooden seating with padding extends around the exterior walls.
In the carpeted room to the front left the seating style is repeated and a fire place and bell pushes are retained.
There is another room to the rear left. Beyond the stairs in the corridor is access to a room that contains a pool table and adjoins the main room though there is no direct access.
Dogs are made to feel welcome.
