The Hamers Arms has undergone a £250k full refurbishment and is Now Open!!!! The pub was renamed to The Hamers Arms in 1848 after the death and in recognition of Richard Hamer a local businessman that bought the 4 Summerseat Mills from Sir Robert Peel as he relocated to Nantwich.
Richard set about building housing, a School and contributed significantly to a local chapel and created employment and prosperity for the village and surrounding Bury areas.
It had previously been known as the Pinners arms and it was he renamed in his honour by the then Publican Bernard Wolstenholme so it is only fitting now that another Wolstenholme reopens it some 174 years later fully refurbished.
