You will find The York in Islington London within a short stroll of Upper Street, Angel Tube and Duncan Street.
Step in to discover a traditional pub of unique character, revered for its eclectic range of real ales and its quality pub food, which are served, as they should be, with a generous measure of famous British hospitality.
Until the late 18th Century, the site of our pub was open fields and part of a farm. We were first established as The York Hotel in 1851 and dairy cows once grazed up to the back door. An historic print from 1819 shows a view from outside the pub, with St. Mary's Church and bare-knuckle prize fighting on the green.
The York is one of many rare gems in the Nicholson's collection of great British pubs, reputed for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.
